Sanctuary dancers in teal tutus arranged in a cross formation on stage

Getting started

What ages do you teach?

We welcome dancers from age 2 and up. Classes are grouped by age and level, beginning with Mommy & Me and Preschool Ballet and moving up through our older and more advanced levels. If you are not sure where your dancer fits, reach out and we will help you find the right class.

Does my child need experience to start?

Not at all. Many of our dancers begin with no experience, and our teachers love welcoming first-timers. We place each dancer in a class that matches their age and stage so they can grow at a comfortable pace.

How do we enroll?

Enrollment happens through our parent portal. The annual family registration fee and your first month of tuition are due when you enroll. Once you are registered, you are all set for the season. See our class schedule to choose a class.

Classes and what to wear

What styles of dance do you offer?

We offer ballet (including pre-pointe and pointe), jazz, contemporary, worship and international dance, tumbling, hip hop, and karate, along with our Dance Company. You can read every class name and description on our Classes page.

What should my dancer wear to class?

Each class has its own simple dress code, chosen for safety and modesty. In general, dancers wear a solid-color leotard with tights, hair pulled back from the face, and the shoes for their style. You can find the full code for every class, with examples, on our Dress Code and Studio Policies page.

Where should we buy dancewear and shoes?

You can shop our online store for dancewear, and we highly recommend a proper shoe fitting at Tutu's: A Dancer's Boutique in Knoxville. Correct fit matters for dance shoes, so we discourage big-box ballet shoes, the kind bought at Walmart, Target, or other big-box stores.

Tuition, attendance, and policies

How does tuition work?

Tuition is billed monthly and is due by the 10th of each month. The yearly class fee is divided into equal monthly payments, so your tuition stays the same each month no matter how many class weeks fall in it. You can pay by cash or check in the lobby drop-box, or by card or ACH through the parent portal.

What happens if my dancer misses a class?

Tuition is not refunded for a missed class, but your dancer may take a make-up class within one month of the one they missed. Make-ups are at the director's discretion and at a level equal to or just below your dancer's own, when one is available.

What if the studio closes for weather?

We follow Roane County Schools for inclement-weather closures. We are not able to make up classes missed for weather, so we appreciate your understanding when the weather keeps us home.

Is there a recital?

Yes. We hold a spring recital, and it is one of the highlights of our year. Required rehearsals must be attended in order to perform, and any balance on a dancer's account needs to be paid before recital.
